MAYOR BLOOMBERG SAYS HIS NEWS SERVICE DIDN’T APPEASE CHINA

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg denied on Tuesday a New York Times report that his Bloomberg News spiked a report about alleged corruption involving China’s richest man and top government officials because it was concerned that China might close down the Bloomberg offices in China. Noting that he had agreed not to become directly involved in the affairs of his news organization while serving as mayor, Bloomberg indicated that he had talked to his editors who had told him the report had not been killed. At a news conference, the mayor said, “No one thinks that we are wusses and not willing to stand up and write stories that are of interest to the public and that are factually correct.” He did not indicate when the report will finally appear.
