60 MINUTES RECOVERS QUICKLY FROM DEBUNKED REPORT

December 9, 2013 by · Leave a Comment

Seeming to suggest that TV audiences have forgiven CBS’s 60 Minutes for its botched report on the Benghazi attack, viewers returned to the show in big numbers again on Sunday. Even without the benefit of an NFL overrun or a twitterable story about Amazon’s plans for package deliveries by tiny helicopters, the news magazine attracted 11.44 million viewers, second in the ratings only to NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which attracted 13.83 million. (The game itself between the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints averaged 16.57 million.) The result is even more impressive when taking into account that the first half hour competed directly against the overrun of Fox’s afternoon NFL telecast which drew 18.27 million viewers.
