Aereo, the fledgling service that delivers over-the-air broadcasts to subscribers via the Internet, said on Thursday that it would welcome a Supreme Court decision in its continuing dispute with broadcasters who have accused it of copyright infringement. The broadcasters’ attempts to obtain injunctions against the service in several jurisdictions have failed, with the courts expressing the opinion that they would not be likely to prevail in their lawsuits against Aereo. On Thursday, Aereo said in a Supreme Court filing that “the need to litigate multiple cases has not only imposed a direct financial burden on Aereo but also created uncertainty that undermines Aereo’s efforts to expand its footprint and further develop its business.” Aereo currently operates in New York City, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Salt Lake City, Houston, Dallas, Denver, and Detroit and is due to launch in Baltimore on Monday.
