Overseas, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire remained ablaze, adding another $44.3 million to its international winnings. With $336.7 million piled up abroad, its worldwide total has now reached $673.4 million. Frozen placed second at the foreign box office with $30.6 million to bring its international total to $55.9 million after two weeks. And that’s pretty much all she wrote. Thor: The Dark World came in a distant No. 3 with just $5.4 million. Everything else amounted to blip on the radar screen. All of this week’s films, at home and abroad, are likely to take a serious pounding when the second installment of The Hobbit, subtitled The Desolation of Smaug, opens next weekend.
