DESPICABLE ME 2 DOMINATES HOME VIDEO SALES

December 19, 2013 by · Leave a Comment

Universal’s Despicable Me 2 was easily the No. 1 DVD and Blu-ray Disc seller last week, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, and many analysts expect it to remain at the top of the charts through the Christmas holiday. (The original Despicable Me also returned to the charts at No. 8.) The animated family film was second only to Iron Man 3 at the box office this year, with worldwide ticket sales tallying $918 million. Coming in at No. 2 was the home video debut of another Universal hit, Fast & Furious 6, with sales partly fueled by continued grief by fans of the film’s star, Paul Walker, who died in an auto crash last month. Last week’s top seller 20th Century Fox’s The Wolverine, slipped to third place.
