HOBBIT SEQUEL BRINGS IN $98.3 MILLION OVERSEAS

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continued to storm the overseas box office, collecting an astounding $98.3 million in 63 markets and bringing its worldwide total to $423.8 million. Frozen was also on a hot streak, earning $50.5 million in 44 markets. Fox’s the Secret Life of Walter Mitty also did far better business abroad than it did at home, earning $27.2 million in 40 markets (compared with just $13 million domestically. Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire passed the $400 million mark, standing now at $404 million.
