Netflix is testing a new pricing plan principally directed at potential customers who do most of their video watching on a single smartphone or tablet. It is signing up new customers in test markets for $6.99 per month for a streaming plan that offers standard-definition DVD quality on one device. (Its regular $7.99 plan provides “Super HD” on two devices — and an $11.99 plan adds two more –but small handheld devices don’t benefit from Super HD.) The new pricing is available only to new Netflix subscribers in a limited number of markets.
