It’s hard to imagine many people being awake at 4:00 a.m. Eastern Time, but that was the hour that the major broadcast networks began their coverage of the memorial services for Nelson Mandela at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa today (Tuesday). The services ended shortly before the networks’ morning shows began at 7:00 a.m. After NBC’s Brian Williams, the only network anchor who broadcast from South Africa, concluded his coverage, he remained at the scene to discuss the ceremony with the hosts of Today.
