WALL ST. AND SUNSET BLVD. HAVE MUCH IN COMMON, SAYS DICAPRIO

Leonardo DiCaprio says that the greedy, narcissistic personality of Jordon Belfort, the real-life stock swindler that he portrays in The Wolf of Wall Street, was recognizable to him. In an interview with USA Today, DiCaprio remarked, “There’s direct correlation between Hollywood and this world.” He has seen, he said, how power, money and drugs have become “rampant in Hollywood,” so that he himself has had to make an extra effort “to have your head head screwed on straight. Sometimes the environment you’re in isn’t conducive to that. I’ve been in the industry for 25 years so I’ve seen it all over the place.” In their depiction of Belfort, the filmmakers wanted to explore “what an addictive ride greed is. It’s almost a psychological rollercoaster of what it would be like to indulge yourself in every possible sin you can imagine, without questioning it.” By the way, DiCaprio added, “None of that is a part of my life.”
