Universal has put the brakes on the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise while it determines whether the production can be saved after the death of star Paul Walker. Production had been scheduled to resume in Atlanta on Monday following a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, but the cast and crew have reportedly been notified that shooting has been delayed indefinitely. On Tuesday, TheWrap.com, citing an individual with knowledge of the situation, reported that the producers are considering scrapping the entire film. But while one of its sources said that the producers were considering removing Walker’s character from the film, another said that no such option is being considered. The Wrap said that the producers have “veered away” from any discussion of digitally putting Walker’s face on the body of another actor. Today’s (Wednesday) Los Angeles Times observed, “The delay looks likely to keep going into this week and possibly beyond, suggesting there isn’t a quick fix.” Currently the film remains scheduled for release on July 11.
