AILES’S BIOGRAPHER PUSHES BACK AFTER FOX NEWS’S ATTACKS

Gabriel Sherman, author of The Loudest Voice in the Room, a biography of Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, has responded to Ailes’s criticism that he failed to allow Fox News or himself to fact-check his book. “That tells you everything you need to know about this book and its agenda,” Ailes told the Hollywood Reporter. In a statement to Politico.com, Sherman said, “A team of two fact-checkers spent more than 2,000 hours vetting the manuscript before publication.” He added, “Roger Ailes declined every request to discuss the reporting with me.” Meanwhile, Fox News commentator Karl Rove has urged followers to read Zev Chafet’s biography of Ailes that reportedly was released last year reportedly, according to Politico, as part of an effort by Ailes “to preempt Sherman’s version with a more favorable and hopefully sympathetic account of his legacy.”
