After dumping several of the movies that they thought had little potential during the deadly box-office month of January (only to be surprised that some of them did quite well), the studios are sitting this weekend out. Only one film is due to open wide, I, Frankenstein, a horror film that reportedly as little to do with the Mary Shelly character. Box office forecasters figure that the movie, which stars Aaron Eckhart. should earn around $15-20 million. That result would no doubt put it behind last weekend’s top film, Universal’s Ride Along, which set a January box office record. It’s expected to earn around $15-20 million. Two other holdovers are also likely to come in at around that amount, the Afghan war thriller Lone Survivor and the animated The Nut Job.
