BCS TITLE GAME CAPTURES THIRD-HIGHEST CABLE RATING EVER

ESPN’s coverage of the Bowl Championship Series title game between Florida State University and Auburn on Monday attracted an average 25.6 million viewers, making it the third-highest-rated game ever on cable TV. While it averaged a 14.4 household rating nationally, it scored an enormous 55.8 rating in Birmingham, AL and a 31.1 in Jacksonville, FL. ESPN said that its coverage of the five BCS Bowl games (Fiesta, Rose, Sugar, Orange and BCS National Championship) averaged 16.5 million viewers and a 9.4 rating, up 9 percent from last year.
