CNN: DID IT UNDERESTIMATE YOUNG PEOPLE?

There was one story that CNN covered in great depth on Thursday: the arrest of Justin Bieber on an assortment of charges, ranging from DUI to resisting arrest, in Miami. Capital New York columnist Alex Weprin noted on his Twitter feed that every single story “above the fold” (the top half) on CNN’s website was related to the Bieber arrest. On the other hand, Al Jazeera America used the arrest to demonstrate its resolve to stick to matters of importance. It barely mentioned Bieber and issued a statement saying that it was focusing on things like the chemical spill in West Virginia, the Syrian peace talks, and a speech by the president of Iran at Davos.
