CONSUMERS LIFT ULTRAVIOLET TO RECORD YEAR

People who once filled the walls of their living rooms — and adjacent rooms — with videotapes, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs are increasingly storing their video fare via the UltraViolet cloud system. Home Media magazine, citing Mark Teitell, GM of the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem, which manages implementation of the cloud-based digital storage platform, reported on Thursday that during Christmas Week, consumers added a record 2.3 million new movies and TV shows to their UltraViolet libraries. Teitell figured that worked out to be about four every second during the week. The number of UltraViolet transactions during the year tripled versus 2012, he said.
