DISASTROUS CHEMICAL SPILL NOT REPORTED BY NETWORK MORNING SHOWS

All three of the major networks’ Sunday morning news shows were being taken to task for failing to mention the disastrous spill of 4-methylcyclohexane methanol into the Elk River of West Virginia, leaving 300,000 residents without potable water. The Huffington Post noted that each of the shows were able to mention relatively trivial matters — whether Chris Christie would be able to survive the current political scandal in New Jersey; the five year anniversary of the landing of a U.S. Airways plane on the Hudson River; and the birth of a panda at the National Zoo. But when it came “to one of the most significant (and potentially scandalous) environmental disasters in America since the Deepwater Horizon oil spill” there was nothing.
