DVD SCREENERS CONTINUE TO BE POSTED ON PIRATE SITES

DVD screeners sent to awards voters may contain numerous warnings and threats of prosecution for piracy, but they have not deterred some recipients from posting them on file-sharing websites. TorrentFreak.com, which tracks BitTorrent (file sharing) usage, notes that six of the ten most-pirated movies of the past week were DVD screeners, including the top one, The Wolf of Wall Street, which entered the top-ten list last week at No. 1. Frozen came in at No. 2, followed by screeners of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Lone Survivor and American Hustle (in that order). Other screeners that hit the list were The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug at No. 6 and 12 Years a Slave at No. 10.
