Final ratings for Sunday night’s Golden Globes presentations have revealed that 20.87 million watched the show — a tad better than last year when 19.70 million tuned in and 2007 when 20.04 million did. It was, in fact, the most-watched Golden Globes telecast since 2004, when 26.80 million watched. Nevertheless, the number paled in comparison with the result for the NFL divisional playoff overrun on CBS, which attracted 41.21 million viewers in the 7:00 p.m. hour, according to final results from Nielsen Research. Meanwhile, the NFL announced on Monday that it is talking to broadcast and cable companies about airing a part of its Thursday-night package. It indicated that it could sell some of the 13 games per season that it airs to an outside network, beginning in 2015. SportsBusinessDaily.com quoted NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy as saying, “We want to accelerate the growth, quality and promotion of Thursday night NFL football.”
