RATINGS FALL SLIGHTLY FOR GRAMMYS

January 27, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

The total audience for Sunday night’s coverage of the 56th Annual Grammy Awards was about the same as those for 2011 and 2013 — 28.5 million, but it was well below the ratings for 2012, which developed into a tribute for the late Whitney Houston following her death that saw 39 million people tune in. Sunday’s telecast peaked in the 9:00 p.m. half-hour with 33.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen Research. By contrast, NBC’s telecast of the Pro Bowl Game, traditionally the lowest-rated football telecast of the year, pulled in just 9.1 million viewers. On ABC, The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine’s Wedding drew 6.10 million viewers. Squeezed out of the ratings competition, however, was Fox’s lineup of animated comedy shows. They averaged just 3 million viewers.
