It was perhaps to be expected, given its Hollywood-Australia union and its box office success: the nearly clean sweep at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Awards of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. The movie won in every category but two at the annual AACTA ceremony Thursday, including best film. Luhrmann, who was a producer on the film, also took home awards for best director and shared the award for best adapted screenplay with his regular collaborator, Craig Pearce. Leonardo DiCaprio won for best actor, Joel Edgerton for best supporting actor, and Elizabeth Debicki for best supporting actress. The film also won for cinematography, editing, sound, musical score, production design, costume design, and visual effects.
