NBCUniversal’s NBC Television Network may have struggled throughout most of the year in primetime, but its USA Network on cable remained the most-watched cable network during primetime for the eighth consecutive year, according to Nielsen Research. USA averaged 2.4 million total viewers in primetime, a pittance in the broadcast television world, but solid for cable, where a tally of even a million viewers represents a hit show. Coming in second was ESPN with an average of 2.2 million views in primetime. There was a three-way tie for third place as History, TBS, and TNT each average 1.9 million viewers. Topping the ratings list for total day was kids channel Nickelodeon, which averaged 1.7 million viewers.
