HOW BIG WILL GOD BE AT THE BOX OFFICE?

No one is taking any bets about how Son of God will do against the new Liam Neeson action flick Non-Stop. The current consensus is that each will open with around $20 million this weekend but that each could do far better than that. Particularly Son of God — which reportedly has received some massive support from church groups. On the other hand, it is a pared-down version of episodes of the History Channel’s The Bible that have already been seen by many of the people at which it’s aimed. Non-Stop, meanwhile, has been receiving a major marketing push, including ads that aired during the Winter Olympics and reviews have been mostly positive. Either film, and perhaps both, are likely to knock The Lego Movie from its position as the No. 1 film, a position that it has held for the previous three weeks. It’s expected to bring in around $18 million.
