MORE FILM AWARDS HANDED OUT IN ADVANCE OF OSCARS

A spate of film awards was handed out on Saturday. The Writers Guild of America presented its award for original screenplay to Spike Jonze for his futuristic love story Her. It also honored Billy Ray for his adapted screenplay Captain Phillips. Also on Saturday, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki won the 28th American Society of Cinematographers Award for his work on Gravity. It was the third win for Lubezki, who previously won the top award in 2012 for The Tree of Life and in 2007 for Children of Men. And Walt Disney Animation Studios’ box office hit Frozen won the 41st Annie Award for animated film Saturday evening.
