NBC CANCELS MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW

NBC has confirmed that it will replace The Michael J. Fox show with Hollywood Game Night beginning Feb. 27, the first Thursday following the conclusion of its coverage of the Winter Olympics. (A remaining unaired episode involves Fox going to Sochi, an episode that NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt had previously indicated could air during the Olympics.) The news comes one week after NBC pulled the plug on another new Thursday comedy, Sean Saves the World, starring Sean Hayes. Hayes is the executive producer of Hollywood Game Night. The Michael J. Fox Show has completed production on all of the 22 episodes that NBC had originally ordered. Fifteen of them have aired. The cancellation underlined NBC’s continued difficulties landing a strong sitcom, something it was particularly adept at doing for decades with such classic series as Friends, Seinfeld, and The Bill Cosby Show.
