NETFLIX DOWNRATES VERIZON, AT&T

The best place to watch a television show or movie streamed by Netflix is Brazil, Chile or Colombia, each of which provides faster Internet service than the U.S., Netflix said on Monday. (Netflix launched its streaming service in those Latin American countries in Sept. 2011.) The company particularly complimented the ISP’s GVT in Brazil and GTD in Chile for investing in new network technology aimed at optimizing the experience of their customers. On the other hand, Verizon, which ballyhoos its FiOS fiber-optic service, was downrated by Netflix. So was AT&T U-verse and Mediacom. Netflix points out that the higher the speed, the better the picture quality and the rarer the interruptions for buffering.
