NEW RELEASES MAKE SOLID DEBUT ON HOME VIDEO

A slew of new releases debuted strongly on the home-video market last week. Topping the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart was the animated Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Coming in second on the chart was Paramount’s Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa, starring Johnny Knoxville, playing an octogenarian looking after his young grandson on a road trip. Last Vegas, another old-geezer movie starring Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline and Morgan Freeman, came in third. Debuting at No. 4 was the Downton Abbey fourth season. And rounding out the top five was last week’s No. 1 home-video release, Captain Phillips. On Home Video Magazine‘s rental chart, Bad Grandpa came in at No. 1, followed by Last Vegas and Captain Phillips.
