Vesuvius is not expected to lend much heat to the box office this weekend. Pompeii, the latest cinematic telling of the the volcanic disaster that struck the Roman city in 79 AD, will be lucky to cross $10 million, many box office analysts have warned, although estimates range from $8-12 million. Another newcomer, 3 Days to Kill, starring Kevin Costner, isn’t expected to fare much better. Pundits are predicting an $8-10 million opening. Both films have received mostly negative reviews. The hot movie of the weekend is likely to be The Lego Movie, which is expected to add another $30-35 million to its total and place first on this week’s top ten list.
