Dialing 777-FILM will soon no longer connect you with that voice hollering, “Hello, and welcome to Moviefone!” Anyone dialing that number over the weekend were told that if they want to buy tickets to a film at their local theater, they should download the free Moviefone app for their mobile device. “The call-in service has been in pretty steady decline,” Jeff Berman, the president of BermanBraun, told the New York Times in a telephone interview. “Our customers are much more interested in our award-winning app, and we need to invest our resources in the future, part of which involves a major reimagining of Moviefone.” Berman declined to provide details about what the “reimagining” entails.
