Director Darren Aronofsky first heard that Paramount had agreed to tack a religious disclaimer to his movie Noah and to marketing materials connected with it when he read a news story about the studio’s decision last week, TheWrap.com indicated on Wednesday, citing an individual familiar with the matter. The website said that Aronofsky was “not happy” about being left out of the discussions. The disclaimer, in which Paramount said that the movie was “inspired” by the biblical story and acknowledged that “artistic license” had been taken with it, went on to say that the studio regards it as “true to the essence, values, and integrity” of the religious account. The National Religious Broadcasters Association had called for the disclaimer.
