All of that pre-Oscars ballyhoo over Gravity and its blockbuster success at the box office did not result in a first-place debut for it on home video. The Warner Bros. hit came in second to Disney/Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks overall DVD and Blu-ray Disc combined sales. On Sunday Gravity won seven Oscars, the most for any 2013 feature. Slipping to third place — from No. 1 a week ago — was the boxed set of HBO’s Game of Thrones: the Complete Third Season, while Disney’s reissue of The Jungle Book slipped to fourth place. Lionsgate’s Ender’s Game rounded out the top five. On Home Media magazine’s rental chart, Sony’s Captain Phillips moved up to No. 1 (from No. 7 a week earlier), while Nebraska debuted in second place. Lionsgate’s Ender’s Game, the previous week’s No. 1 choice, slipped to third place.
