ACMA SHOW TOPS SUNDAY’S FARE BUT FALLS BELOW LAST YEAR

With 14.1 million viewers tuning in, Sunday night’s 49th Academy of Country Music Awards was the most-watched show of the night. Nevertheless, it was down about 9 percent from last year, when it attracted a total adult audience of 15.5 million. Among the key 18-49 age group, the Dow dipped a full ratings point to a 3.3 from last year’s 4.3. Every other show on the competing networks was also down from last week. Particularly hard-hit was ABC’s Resurrection, which dropped to 7.5 million viewers from 8.1 million a week ago. While ratings won’t be available until later today or Tuesday, the season premiere of HBO’s House of Thrones is likely to score strong ratings. HBO acknowledged early today that so many viewers attempted to watch the episode via its HBO GO website that the site crashed.
