As he awaits a final decision from the U.S. Supreme Court on whether the Aereo service will live or die, Barry Diller has sharply criticized the coverage of the controversy surrounding the service. The service uses dime-sized antennas to pick up the over-the-air signals of broadcasters and deliver them to viewers over the Internet. In an interview with Brian Stelter on CNN’s Reliable Sources, Diller called the coverage “dopey” and focused on the broadcasters’ arguments that Aereo amounts to an elaborate scheme to steal their content. At last week’s Supreme Court hearing, he said, “all of the coverage was about the questions the judges asked, not about any of the answers given.” Reliable Sources host Stelter observed that some of the people covering the hearing were working for the companies that are suing Aereo.
