March Madness got a little madder than usual over the weekend and once again demonstrated that viewers will return to their sets on Saturdays if given something that they want to watch. In this case it was the Kentucky-Wisconsin NCAA semifinal, which drew 16.3 million viewers across TBS, TNT, and truTV, making it the most-viewed college basketball game on cable ever. The audience peaked in the final half-hour of the game played outside of primetime beginning at 11:00 p.m. when 18.6 million viewers tuned in. The game averaged a 9.2 household rating and a 17 share. Connecticut is due to face Kentucky in the 2014 NCAA National Championship tonight (Monday) with coverage on CBS set to begin at 8:30 p.m. and the tip-off at 9:10 p.m. Ordinarily Saturday produces the lowest ratings of the week.
