Good Morning America cohost George Stephanopoulos is upset with the recent staff changes on the program — in particular, the departures of Sam Champion and Josh Elliott — as well as the “softer” features on the morning program and the addition of more entertainment personalities and fewer news persons, the New York Post reported today (Monday), citing multiple sources. Stephanopoulos, who also anchors Sunday morning’s This Week, is currently renegotiating his contract, and the Post article implies that he is seeking greater input into the hiring decisions for GMA. “They continue to bring in all of these people like (Live with Kelly and Michael cohost Michael] Strahan, who is not a news person,” one source told the Post. Stephanopoulos, however, denied that there is any friction between himself and network executives. “So much of what you’ve been told is false,” he told the Post. “What I can say is that I’m proud of our continued success at GMA, This Week and ABC News, and I’m confident that will continue.”
