David Brock, the founder of the liberal website Media Matters and a staunch supporter of former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has demanded that CBS News reopen its investigation of Lara Logan’s discredited 60 Minutes report on Benghazi. In a letter to Jeff Fager, CBS News chairman and 60 Minutes executive producer, and CBS News President David Rhodes, Brock notes in the message, which was first disclosed by the Huffington Post, that this week’s article in New York magazine about Logan’s report revealed that CBS’s earlier internal investigation of it “was not thorough, was wrong on critical points, and omitted key facts — facts that would have revealed that Logan’s report was tainted by partisanship and unprofessional conduct.” Brock noted, for example, that the CBS review had maintained that Logan had reached out to the FBI and the State Department to inquire about her principal source, Dylan Davies, when in fact no such contacts were made. And it failed to disclose that Logan also met with South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, a fierce critic of President Obama’s foreign policy.
