Fox News last week recorded its second-lowest ratings in 13 years among the key (for cable news) 25-54 age group. The network averaged just 174,000 viewers in that demo but continued its strong lead in total viewers, averaging 909,000. That figure may have been down 14 percent from the comparable week a year ago, but it was well ahead of its closest rival, MSNBC, which averaged 372,000 and CNN’s 313,000. Indeed, during a week of light news, all three major cable networks saw double-digit drops in total audience. Fox was down 14 percent; MSNBC, 15 percent; and CNN, 20 percent.
