It’s hard to imagine a more obvious ancillary deal to emerge than the one Disney announced on Monday: Frozen, it said, will become a touring ice show beginning in September, when it will premiere at Disney World in Orlando. The New York Times reported that the show will include 39 cast members, nine tractor-trailers, and 20 snow machines that will create a blizzard that will cover cast and audience alike. Frozen currently holds the record as the top-grossing animated film of all time. The ice extravaganza will be produced by Feld Entertainment, the Ringling Bros. circus producers who have been mounting Disney on Ice productions since 1981. (On Friday a number of animal rights organizations agreed to pay Feld $16 million to settle a lawsuit in which Feld alleged that the groups had made unfounded accusations that the Ringling Bros. circus mistreated elephants.)
