After reports emerged on Wednesday that entertainment mogul David Geffen is interested in buying the Los Angeles Clippers if current owner Donald Sterling is forced to sell the franchise, Geffen has indicated that he’ll have two partners in such an acquisition. Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and Oprah Winfrey. “Larry Ellison, Oprah and me…yes we are partnering in hopes of buying the Clippers,” Geffen said in an email to the Wall Street Journal. A spokeswoman for Winfrey later confirmed that she was “in discussions with David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available.” Geffen previously tried to buy the Clippers from Sterling in 2010. Ellison, who is a close friend, attempted to buy the Golden State Warriors the same year.
