If you were thinking of subscribing to Netflix’s streaming service after the company hinted in April that it was about to raise its price by a dollar a month for new subscribers — and you haven’t done so — you’d better act fast. Netflix sent out a notice to its current subscribers on Thursday saying, “In order to continue adding more movies and TV shows, we are increasing our price from $7.99 to $8.99 for new members. As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee that your streaming plan and price will not change for two years.” As of this morning (Friday) the Netflix website was still offering the streaming service for $7.99 per month. Reports indicated that Netflix is also raising prices for the service in the U.K. and other European cities. The company’s regular DVD-by-mail service, available only in the U.S., will remain at its current price, $7.99 per month, reports said.
