2 BROKE GIRLS CREATOR WON’T TONE DOWN THE RAUNCH

Michael Patrick King, co-creator of the hit CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls, while acknowledging that conservative family groups have stepped up their complaints about the show, he has no plans to alter its content. In an interview with the New York Daily News, King said, “Today … comedy is pretty close to the edge. … I consider our show ‘high’ low-brow.” And with network executives increasingly trying to draw 18-49-year-old viewers, King figures he’s right on target. “The two main characters are 25,” King said. “Spend some some time with 25-year-olds and you will see exactly what this comedy is all about.” King added that he consults CBS lawyers to make sure that the raunch doesn’t go too far. “I do remember at one point I was told I could only have a certain amount of the word ‘vagina’ in (the show),” he recalls. “They said six was fine but twelve was too many.”
