Unable to secure the location he wanted in San Francisco for his $700-million movie museum, George Lucas has chosen to build it in Chicago instead, published reports said today (Wednesday). Lucas reportedly was influenced by his wife, DreamWorks animation chairman Mellody Hobson, who is from Chicago. The Chicago Tribune quoted him as saying, "Choosing Chicago is the right decision for the museum … but a difficult decision for me personally because of my strong personal and professional roots in the Bay Area." The museum will be called the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, according the Tribune, which broke the news of Lucas’s decision. The newspaper said that the museum is likely to be built on what are now parking lots between Soldier Field and McCormick Place, if the city planning commission approves.
