The first two games of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs grabbed the first two places on Nielsen’s list of the top ten television shows last week. Tuesday’s ABC telecast attracted 14.8 million viewers, while Sunday’s drew 15.1 million. NBC’s America’s Got Talent came in third with 11.3 million. With broadcast television now into summer reruns ratings for most other shows in the top ten were unimpressive. CBS’s coverage of Broadway’s 68th annual Tony Awards made the top ten (at No. 9) with just 7 million viewers. In a week of light news and ergo light ratings, the NBC and ABC newscasts were closer than ever, with just about 200,000 viewers separating them. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams led with 7.7 million viewers, followed by ABC News with Diane Sawyer with 7.5 million. The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley was third with 5.9 million viewers. For the week overall, ABC was out front with a 4.3 household rating and an 8 share. (It was also No. 1 among adults 18-49.) CBS was second with a 3.9/7. NBC followed with a 3.4/6, while Fox was left far behind with a 1.9/3.
