OLD FCC EQUIPMENT CRASHES AT REGULATOR’S WEBSITE

You might have concluded that surely the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which, among other things, oversees the technical standards of the broadcasting industry, would have the most advanced technological systems in America at its disposal. If so, you’d be wrong, as the recent failure of the FCC’s website would seem to indicate. An agency spokesman acknowledged on Wednesday that after comedian John Oliver railed at the FCC’s stand on Internet neutrality, the FCC’s site became overloaded with complaints. It’s not set up to receive the load of comments we received last week, a spokesman said last week. Some reports indicated that the computer equipment used at the FCC site is more than 17 years old.
