The Stanley Cup Finals — professional sports’ least watched championship series — has been drawing decent rating through it first four games, averaging 4.65 million viewers on NBC/NBCSN. NBCUniversal said on Thursday that the four games’ average ratings are the second best since 2002 when the first four averaged 4.73 million. Wednesday night’s game on NBCSN attracted 3.38 million viewers and gave the cable sports network the distinction of becoming the most watch cable network. While the game drew a 2.0 household rating, it attracted far higher numbers in such cities as New York, where it averaged an 8.1 rating and in Los Angeles, where it averaged 7.3 million. Buffalo was third on the list with a 5.1, followed by Boston with a 4.2 and Philadelphia and Providence, which tied for fifth with a 4.1.
