THINK LIKE A MAN TOO FORECAST TO RULE BOX OFFICE

June 20, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

It will be another week without a summer blockbuster opening in theaters, and the low-budget ($25 million) Think Like a Man Too is expected to make its debut at No. 1 at the box office, unseating last week’s top attraction, 22 Jump Street. Box office pundits are predicting that the new No. 1 will open with around $30-35 million while the old No. 1 will slip to around $25-30 million, about what last week’s No. 2 film, How to Train our Dragon 2 is expected to earn. Coming in fourth, according to the predictions, will be Clint Eastwood’s $40-million musical about the Four Seasons musical group, Jersey Boys. Because it targets older moviegoers, it’s expected to hang on at the box office longer than some of the others. Working against it, however, is the fact that musicals have had a checkered history at the box office in recent years; the film has received so-so reviews; and many younger moviegoers, who make up the lion’s share of the market, have never heard of the Four Seasons.
