The TV audience for the World Cup continued to establish ratings records around the world on Wednesday. The Netherlands victory over Australia drew 7.87 million viewers in the Netherlands itself — or an astounding 88.1 percent of TV viewers in that country — with 8.8 million tuning in for the final half-hour. Capturing the biggest audience worldwide, however, was the match between Chile and Spain, the 2010 World Cup champions. In Spain, some 13.2 million viewers, representing 68 percent of the total audience, tuned in. In Chile, whose team won the match, the audience share over TVN and Canal 13, rose to 54 percent. In the U.K., it was watched by 8 million viewers, or 38 percent of the audience.
