Dawn of the Planet of the Apes remained at the top of the overseas box office this weekend with a whopping $54.4 million in its third weekend, raising its international total to $183 million, with several key markets yet to be accounted for. (It opens next weekend in France and Italy, among other markets.) Its worldwide total now comes to $355 million. Paramount’s Transformers: Age of Extinction closed in on $1 billion at the worldwide box office as it added $37.5 million from 60 overseas markets to up its international total to $730 million and its global to $966 million. Godzilla also remained a potent force abroad with $6.9 million, most of it from Japan, the reptilian monster’s natural homeland. Hercules, meanwhile, continued to muscle its way into the action, pulling in $28.7 million. And How to Train Your Dragon 2 continued to remain strong overseas with $24 million.
