NBC’s summertime hit America’s Got Talent returned to the top of the weekly Nielsen ratings list after being bumped the previous week by CBS’s new summer drama Extant, which wound up in a four-way tie for eighth place. The Wednesday edition of AGT attracted 6.99 million viewers, while the Tuesday edition attracted 6.89 million. The talent show also took the two top positions on Nielsen’s list dedicated to the 18-49 age group, but the Wednesday, Sunday, and Thursday episodes of CBS’s Big Brother, which failed to make the top ten among total viewers and households, followed in 3rd, 4th, and fifth places. Meanwhile, the Gaza conflict failed to boost ratings for the network evening newscasts. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams continued its reign at No. 1 as it attracted 7.8 million viewers. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer placed second with 7.4 million, while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley settled for 6 million viewers. For the week in total households, CBS was on top with a 3.5 rating and a 6 share. NBC was close behind with a 3.2/6, followed by ABC with a 3.2/6. Fox trailed with a 1.7/3.
