Rosie O’Donnell has signed a deal to return as co-host of The View, reported earlier today (Wednesday), citing sources connected with the negotiations She will join Whoopi Goldberg, the only holdover from last season, and, said TMZ, a Latina and a conservative, who have not yet been chosen. On Fox & Friends, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who had co-hosted The View for ten years, claimed that a deal to bring O’Donnell back had "been in the works for a long, long time." In fact, she said, when she returned to the show for a May special celebrating Barbara Walters’s retirement, she learned that O’Donnell had helped produce the episode. Commented Hasselbeck: "[For O’Donnell] to have such ease the day of Barbara’s goodbye show was shocking to me. Would you think that the woman who left the way that she did would be producing [Walters’] goodbye show? Here’s the shocker: It was actually [O’Donnell’s] hello show." Hasselbeck was clearly not impressed by the decision to bring O’Donnell back. "Here in comes to ‘The View’ the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there," she said.
