SAG-AFTRA AGREES ON A CONSOLIDATED CONTRACT WITH THE AMPTP

Although details are still unknown, SAG-AFTRA now has a new, unified contract with the AMPTP, the movie and TV producers organization. Agreement was reached in the wee hours of Friday after both sides had agreed to extend their bargaining session into the Fourth of July holiday. Apparently, however, they decided to work through the night to get the deal done. The agreement must now be ratified by the SAG-AFTRA board when it meets on July 12 and afterwards by the union membership. Except for the terse announcement that an agreement had been reached, neither side had any comment.
